I’ve known Kady since college, where our dorm rooms were opposite the hall from one another. I remember one classic night, sitting on her futon crying because whatever crappy boyfriend I had at the time did something to break my heart… and it is SO weird, but absolutely beautiful and serendipitous, to know that over a decade later, I had the privilege of photographing her wedding to Jamie.
It was an intimate family affair, taking place in Kady and Jamie’s hometowns of Rowayton, CT and New Canaan, CT. Kady got ready in her aunt’s house (who is an interior designer!) and I was extra pumped to try out all the new styling accessories and styling mat that I had just recently ordered from www.stylingmat.com . Yes, I now bring my own feathers and vintage stamps to wedding flat lays.
Kady and Jamie’s young daughter joined us for all the festivities which brought a whole new layer of intimacy and adorableness to ever shot.
I may or may not have fallen deeply in love with the pink velvet couch which I artfully included in as many photographs as possible.
Kady and Jamie chose to have their first look and their ceremony in a classic hometown park, Pinkney Park, in Rowayton, CT.
This may very well be my favorite photograph from this year’s wedding season… I love it that much!
What really blew me away (besides the fact that they had one of my all-time favorite, long lost restaurants, Jeff’s Cuisine, catering their reception) was the quality and sincerity in each of their toasts. The stories were priceless, not an awkward moment lapsed, and the genuine hilarity and emotion on Kady and Jamie’s faces (and their guest’s faces!) during each toast was heartwarming.
Kady, we might not live across the dorm hall from each other anymore, but your strength, loyalty, and genuinely hasn’t changed a bit! Cheers to you, your sweet family, and your new life as man and wife!
xoxo
